The Avener is a producer and electronic frontiers man that embraces and mixes genres, periods and styles; between the music we listen to and the music we dance to; between underground and high-end pop. The Avener is the alias of Tristan Casara. The Avener is known for his own music and his re-working of artist like: Sixto Rodriguez, John Lee Hooker, Mazzy Star, The Be Good Tanyas, Andy Bey and Adam Cohen in a mosaic of seminal blues, underground folk, nocturnal pop, ironic rock and the work of forgotten artists from the 70s and 80s, exploring secret paths of memory. The Avener shot to fame in 2014 with his version of ‘Fade Out Lines’ by Phoebe Kildeer. It rocketed to the top of the iTunes chart – first in Germany, and quickly followed by other countries around the world. The following year it had achieved the #1 position in no less than 22 countries. The Avener has teamed up with Tiwayo, a bohemian singer/songwriter, guitarist and autodidact from Paris, for his latest single titled, “Wild.”
Positives:
The production is full, the guitar work and singing is solid and the beat is big and demands attention.
Bottom Line:
“Wild” is a beautiful blend of electronic and acoustic instruments that sound natural on the same stereo stage. The melody is interesting and flows through different feels. The drumbeat is organic and is always varied and evolving. The Avener certainly put plenty of electronica sounds and techniques in the track, but it is always balanced. The music has feeling, a little bit of nostalgia, but a lot of energy, too. Tiwayo guitar solo is tasteful and fits the music’s energy and style. Tiwayo's singing is also full of character and tone. “Wild” is a rich tune of musicals styles, multilayered sounds and instruments that is well produced and performed. The Avener and Tiwayo a moving the electronica gene forward and that’s the short of it!
