Edward Skera (feat. Emiah), Lovin’ Me Review
Two artists from the rich musical grounds of Scotland have teamed up to bring us a hip song styled with electro pop and EDM. I am speaking of Scottish Pop/R&B vocalist and songwriter Emiah and songwriter and producer Stuart McInnes (known professionally as Esdaile State). The powerhouse duo who have been working together on worldwide collaborations including their November 2018 release with Nexeri & ConKi – “Adios Amigo” which received over 700,000 streams and broke into iTunes charts across Europe. 2018 saw the rise of Emiah’s online presence when she smashed out a 10 part “Music Mondays” series on YouTube at the beginning of the year. Emiah’s latest release, “Lovin’ Me,” featuring Edward Skera, is just in time to spin up the summer fun. The song has already been receiving radio play across Europe as well as features on major playlists by Tidal and Sony. With more single releases lined up and an EP coming later in the year as well as a showcase at this year’s prestigious music industry event XpoNorth. Emiah’s vocal style that combines classic sounds with a fresh modern-day spin is match perfectly with Skera’s production.

Positives:
With big full sounds and a song form that visits multiple feels, “Lovin’ Me” is a feel-good dance selection. Emiah’s vocals are strong and filled with confident phrasing.
Bottom Line:
Edward Skera creates a beat and musical envelopment that has syncopated motion and full sounds that Emiah’s soulful singing digs into with emotion. This is Skera’s debut on Spectrum, and “Lovin’ Me” certainly gets up on the good foot. Emiah’s range and vocal control is solid. The sounds and rhythms are a mix of electro pop and EDM, a combination that is a winner with these two artists. There is nice counterpoint and full vocal harmonies the embellish the track. This is a strong pairing, don’t miss this one. That’s the short of it!
