Music blows purely through the Blue Ridge Mountains, and anyone with an ear can tune in if they are willing. Pistol Hill did, and at an early age. An award-winning singer/songwriter, Hill was born and raised in the Foothills of North Carolina. At the age of six, Pistol began playing drums and then switched to guitar at age twelve. Soon the songwriting flowed. Pistol recalls, “Songwriting was the first thing I had ever felt passionate about.” Pistol keeps that flame burning, even while attending Appalachian State University business classes and later working construction, the flame was there. Playing five nights a week for two and half years build the flames and his catalog of music. In 2016, Pistol decided to quit his day job and dedicate all of his time to touring and writing. Pistol released his debut recording of new material in the Spring of 2018 called Part I, featuring his first single “Different You.” Pistol is now releasing Part II. Pistol teamed up with Grammy award-winning producer, Billy Hume, to create his latest collection of tunes. With Pistol’s warm weathered voice and craftsman style of lyrics, he brings to life three tunes that blend new and old Country. That’s the short of it!

Positives:

Pistol has a seasoned full voice that is characteristic throughout his range. His voice emanates the truth behind his lyrics.

Bottom Line:

Pistol Hill’s Part II is a strong EP of three tunes that feature strong songwriting. Pistol’s songs are brought to life by a solid band, with pedal steel, crunchy guitar and full bass and drums. The vocal harmonies are complete and add to the impact of the melodies. His tunes are situationally relatable to every day people, which is at the heart of who makes music thrive, his ability to capture those stories and put them to song, is cornerstone to his success.
