Hailing from the rich musical air of the Blue Ridge mountains of Georgia, singer-songwriter Lindsay Beth Harper is creating a country music sound that is based in Americana traditional music spiked with modern country. Harper became obsessed with the high art of yodeling at an early age after hearing a Patsy Cline called, “Lovesick Blues.” Her skills at this unique talent landed her on an NBC show titled “America’s Most Talented Kid,” at the age of 9. Harper soon found herself in the recording studio singing and yodeling cover songs, two of which were with Buddy Hyatt, a Nashville musician and producer often appearing on the Grand Ole Opry and The Dailey & Vincent Show. Harper also explored acting, with appearances in several TV shows and movies including season 4 of Nashville and the Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence movie Passengers. Harper is now releasing her debut EP of all original material titled, A Woman Like That. She wrote and/or co-wrote every song on the five song EP. Harper has a beautiful voice that conveys emotion and honesty with every note she sings. That’s the short of it!

Positives:

Harper has honest voice, it resonates with dark tones that penetrate the listeners ear. Congealed with strong songwriting themes.

Bottom Line:

The EP focuses on “real life” stories of personal triumphs and stories that Harper hopes connects to the core of young women she has a strong following with. She has an honesty to her songwriting; her voice is a siren of honesty with a voice that binds you from the first notes. Her sound offers a slice of traditional with tunes like “Washed in the Blood,” while other tunes like “A Woman Like That,” and “Another Way,” offer a modern sensibility that solidifies Harper’s versatility.
