Lacie Mae is an emerging country artist from Southern California.  At a mere thirteen years old, already she has accomplished opening for country icons, Jerrod Niemann, Tyler Farr, Raelynn, and Justin Moore, as well as headlining her own shows at famous country venues and festivals across California. She recently released her first single, “Without Me,” and additional singles are planned in the coming months.  Until then we can enjoy her latest single, “California Winter.”   A celebration of the winter solstice season, and a good-hearted poke at the California winter time season. That should instantly be relatable to any native.

Positives:

Mae has a voice that is well beyond her years, with a true twang and a solidly penned hook-oriented tune, her songwriting reflects an old soul.

Bottom Line:

Mae has been compared to country pop artists like Carrie Underwood, and her songwriting has been compared to that of Ingrid Michaelson. What “California Winter” does offer, is an accessible sound by an artist who has a strong vocal presence and a rounded seasoning of natural abilities. What is refreshing is the wholesomeness of the song. Its befitting the age of the artist, but more importantly the taste of listeners who seem to more and more desire good old-fashioned tunes that speak to their everyday lives. Mae accurately captures the winter season of California with pinpoint acumen. That’s the short of it!
