Barber is now on the road reconnecting with fans across North America in anticipation of his new album, Easy Keeper. The project is made up of eleven tracks with Barber’s quiet vocals being supported by female backgrounds, acoustic instruments, bass, drums and tasteful electric guitar among other instruments.
Positives:
Barber is a songwriter that says a lot with a little. Never one to over write or sing, he focuses on the core emotion and drives it home.
Bottom Line:
Easy Keeper is a solid collection of eleven tunes that showcase Barber’s songwriting. From full band selections like the opening track “Dancing In The Living Room,” to more sparse selections like the title track. However, the listener will find each selections sonic surrounding only the icing, for the cake is Barber’s gift for lyrics. More specifically, his gift for creating stories and summoning imagery within the listener that is meaningful and emotional. “Louise” brings in the sound of Americana, with its strong backbeat and male/female vocal harmonies and pedal steel fills. Barber’s storytelling is honest, and we can all relate to his themes. Easy Keeper will be the perfect soundtrack for the summer. That’s the short of it!
