Dani Taylor was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona but lived with her grandmother part-time each summer, ultimately attending high school in Michigan. Her journey in music began after a 3-year long relationship left her broken. Taylor explains “I was ready to pack my bags for Alaska to be with the boy who broke up with me. I have my degree in English literature, and I sang in musicals as a child. I was taking vocal lessons and listened to music every day—all sorts of genres, too. And one day I listened to country music and it hit me that country music would be my home. Taylor’s debut EP, simply titled Dani, is a powerful calling card for this budding country music artist.
Positives:
Taylor is a modern-country artist that fashions a powerful vocal quality and all the high value production qualities in her music
Bottom Line:
From a rock guitar driven tune like “How’s That Workin’ Out,” to “Last To Know,” a true-country ballad with pedal steel Taylor exhibits a youthful buoyancy in her delivery. “Hello Dallas,” is a song of self-discovery and the emotion of coming home. An acoustic guitar driven “What About That Truck,” turns into a full throttle guitar romp. Taylor exhibits her most soulful performance on the album. A barn-burner with pure alcohol fueled performances. The EP ties up with “Put it On Ice,” a heart anthem that highlights Taylors songcraft. A solid debut from a burgeoning artist, with a bright future. That's the short of it!
