Robert Finley, Goin' Platinum! Review 2

What makes blues/soul better? Well, more blues/soul, of course! That is what you get with singer Robert Finley because when you’ve been making music for as long as Finley has, you know that the key to success is in your instincts. You learn to trust your gut, you learn to trust your ear, and most of all, you learn to trust the music! The singer lives in the tiny, forgotten town of Bernice, Louisiana, near the Arkansas line, but in his younger days his music took him all over the world. In the Army, Finley was the leader of the Army band, and toured the continent many times over on guitar and vocals. Following his military service, he learned the trade of carpentry and settled back home in the States. He leaned his gospel and blues songs for a hobby rather than career, and mostly confined his artistry to the streets of the South. Now, in the true spirit of the American Dream, Finley’s music is once again primed to reach doors and shores at home and abroad, as his new LP Goin’ Platinum! has dropped. That’s the short of it!

Positives:

Finley’s voice is a finely tuned blues makin’ machine, add his contagious charisma shines with a beacon of soul baby! Solid backing vocal harmonies and horn parts. Dan Auerbach did a fine job producing the album and everything sounds sonically tight!

Bottom Line:

Goin’ Platinum! Finley’s gravelly blues voice is wrapped-up in great song writing, organic production and impeccable mastering. Finley has a way of bringing a song to life that is personable and warm hearted. The band is right there with Finley and the result is a hip blues/soul food combination that will feed the soul and nourish the ears!
