El Carpintero (Spanish: the carpenter) is a one-man blues tour de force. Singing and blowing blues harp while playing drums with his feet. El Carpintero is a one-man band that sounds like a trio! Originally on tour as a street musician, he has worked his way up to performing at festivals and as a support for Jon Kenzie, Manchester and The Bones of J.R. Jones, New York. This one-man blues band from Würzburg Germany, is releasing his debut album titled, Pack My Things. With eight tracks that feature his raspy vocals, passionate blues harp and rock steady drums for a uniquely full sound, all created by one exceedingly talented artist. That’s the short of it!

Positives:

El Carpintero is a gifted songwriter and his collection of eight tunes offer a fun up-beat romp in the hallowed bluesdom, with a southern rock overtone.

Bottom Line:

El Carpintero is lighting up stages and speakers with his one-man blues experience captured on his debut recording, Pack My Things. El Carpintero’s guitar playing is jam-packed with the blues tradition and modern blues sensibilities. With songwriting that has rhythmic hits and solid song forms, El Carpintero sings in a full raspy voice that matches his passion and energy on blues harp. Check out his drumming with his feet, bass drum and hi-hat, they create a surprisingly full sound that propels the music with groove and clarity. This multi-talented, multi-instrumentalist offers tunes laden with good times and fun. When you see him in action, it will take you a second to grasp what he is actually pulling off musically, and its inspired! Cool stuff!
