Aishia is a seventeen-year-old vocalist and songwriter from Malaysia. Aishia started songwriting at the age of 12 and writes all her songs solely by herself. Born in Mumbai, India she spent a major part of her life there before moving to Malaysia. She first started proper training as a vocalist at fifteen, but even in India Aishia was performing at events and gatherings in Kuala Lumpur, which helped her gain experience and vocal confidence. Aishia states: “Music is a part of me, no matter where I go, I need to be able to create music. It’s who I am and something I love doing. I’m also always listening to as many different kinds of music I can get my hands on, it keeps me inspired and motivated to create new things.” Aishia  releasing her single “Aura of Gold (The First Meeting),” this is the first single from her album Aura of Gold, releasing in March 2019.

Positives:

“Aura of Gold (The First Meeting)” has elements of both Indian and Malaysian music, all combined and in support of Aishia’s strong vocals.

Bottom Line:

With a hip exotic sound, “Aura of Gold (The First Meeting)” is a strong track from Aishia. The form is clear, and the instrumentation is excellent. Strings, percussion, flutes and stringed instruments all frame the catchy melody. Aishia has wonderful middle eastern embellishments within her phrasing, adding to the excitement and exotic sonorities. Mohamed Zameer bin Habeeb Shaman created the full and balanced production. The music and lyrics are written by Aishia Datta. With elements of pop, traditional Indian music and Malaysian folk music, Aishia creates a unique world blend, that is accessible, yet offers a depth that is driven by her darkly hued luxurious voice. That’s the short of it!
