Uforia, Say What You Want Review
Uforia is a Toronto based rock band with a deep inner urge to rock. The four-member band is dedicated to writing and performing, as both are entwined into the life’s work of Michael Ursini, Daniel Salij, Dylan Piercey, and Angel Gomez. Music is their art form and the results are a genuine expression of their innate creativity. They sincerely feel that they were born to make music, to perform, to raise the energy of the room, and inspire in the listener. Uforia combines the new age and modern pop sensibilities with hard-hitting, distorted, body thumping rock sounds they came up with. From Rush and Floyd, to Incubus and Billy Talent, Uforia aims to continue the legacy of rock that has informed their musical styles. Aiming to further the evolution of Radio Rock set by band like Royal Blood, Muse, Three Days Grace, Finger Eleven, Our Lady Peace, and Green Day. The bar is high, and that is the way Uforia likes to keep their ears focused on presenting songs that are well-crafted, produced and performed. Read our review of “Crawl” (Read HERE).. Lyrics
Instantaneous satisfaction, narcissistic abuse
Undeserved rewards, never feeling hurt, every third screw loose
What you say has no weight on me (disarmed and diffused)
Everyday wanting something free (but you can’t break loose)
Say what you want, say what you mean
Leave out the madness in-between
I must confess, it’s all that I’ve wanted
Dining on the moon with your silver spoon
It’s too good to refuse
Strut through open doors high above the floor
You have no excuse
What you say has no weight on me (disarmed and diffused)
Everyday wanting something free (but you can’t break loose)
Say what you want, say what you mean
Leave out the madness in-between
I must confess, it’s all that I want
It’s all that I need why can’t you see
Oh won’t you say something
I must confess it’s all that I’ve wanted
Say what you want, say what you mean
Leave out the madness in-between
I must confess, it’s all that I want
It’s all that I need why can’t you see
Oh won’t you say something
I must confess it’s all that I’ve wanted
Positives:
With big walls of guitars, Ursini’s vocals deliver a melody that is memorable and augmented by vocal harmonies and a driving rhythm section.
Bottom Line:
Uforia brings a polished hard rock inspired single to the table with “Say What You Want.” Produced by Finger Eleven’s Steve Molella, “Say What You Want” is a song about struggling to communicate that fully showcases Uforia’s powerful vocals, catchy riffs and angsty attitude that drives the feel and supports the anthemic melody. The combination of clean guitars and distorted guitars are a nice touch. The vocals also go through various sound colorations that add variety and keep the song moving with interest. The bridge has a solid riff that builds the six eight feel. The wah-wah guitar takes us to the break down, where Ursini’s voice carries the weight with style. All of this gives the song a sense of evolution and musical travel. Overall, “Say What You Want” is a satisfying listen from start to finish. That’s the short of it!
