The Good Water is a psych-rock band based in Birmingham. Since their formation in 2015, The Good Water have been building a strong following of fans and supporters. With loyal support from Brum Radio for their drone-rock debut single “Everything Is.” Live the band continues to do raucous shows around the Midlands and blew away audiences supporting Mercury Rev, Super Furry Animals and Bill Ryder-Jones at Lunar Festival. The release of See Your Light in late 2016 saw the band pick up airplay with BBC 6Music, Amazing Radio, BBC Radio 2, Indie 1031 and KROQ. The duo’s brand of psychedelic rock grooves, obscure lyrics and nimble riffs is streamlined into tight garage-pop frameworks. The Good Water is now releasing their single “Colours.”

Positives:

With a solid song form, strong melody and a hip 60s vibe, “Colours” is set to impress.

Bottom Line:

“Colours” demonstrates The Good Water’s ability to deliver a song with feeling and musical meaning. The melody is well-crafted, and the vocal harmonies are interesting and add to the vibe of the tune. Front man Rob Clements does a wonderful job of belting the melody and giving it energy. Capturing the lightning of the 60s sounds and styles, the duo injects it into “Colours,” bringing us a strong retro tune. Clements explains, “This song is all about obscuring reality whenever possible, and the inevitability of being humbled by our oneness with the universe.” The Good Water proves there is still plenty of great sounds to be squeezed out of the 60s style of creating music. That’s the short of it!
