Stray Train, Blues From Hell – The Legend of the Courageous Five Review 2

Stray Train, started as a small idea and turned out to be a great adventure, with an honest heavy blues rock sound, meet the Stray Train Band from Ljubljana, Slovenia!  The band brings a fresh wind to the blues rock scene with their own Slovenia attitude. The band’s music has energy and well-crafted songs, combined with strong influences of Southern blues, throw in great guitar solos and a strong frontman, and you have Stray Train baby! The band is: Luka Lamut – vocals, Jure Golobic – guitar, Boban Milunovic – guitar, Niko Jug – bass, and Viktor Ivanovic – drums. Stray Train’s second album Blues From Hell – The Legend of the Courageous Five, was mixed by the eminent Ronald Prent, who has already participated in mixing albums for bands like: Depeche Mode, Rammstein and Queensryche. Recorded at Wisseloord Studios in the Netherlands, where Queen, U2, Depeche Mode and many others have enjoyed solid outcomes. Blues From Hell – The Legend of the Courageous Five contains 12 fresh compositions, with a specific and distinctive blend of blues and rock in the English language. That’s the short of it!

Positives:

The band writes their songs together and the chemistry of good friendships can be felt on the album. With strong guitar riffs and focused energetic lead singing by Lamut, the band’s music has a rock edge while still maintaining the blues attitude and colors. It is also nice to hear great guitar playing by Golobic and Milunovic.

Bottom Line:

Each track flows in a natural way, telling stories and kickin’ the rock around. The twelve tracks have nice variety in feels and subjects. The band obviously spent the time necessary to craft each song to perfection. Lots of details here folks, vocal harmonies, counter melodies, memorable choruses and strong melodies throughout. This is meat and potatoes rock blues with a hefty dose of Southern spices; you will want seconds!
