Brooklyn based SLUSH has continued to create a stir with their riveting music. American Demons (2016) set the tone of heavy rockers with attitude.  SLUSH is comprised of Joe Dahlstrom (bass), Tom Barnes (drums) and Alex Boehm (guitar and vocals). The three have played together since 2012, gigging extensively in and around New York City. Their sophomore LP outing is titled  Lizard Skin and what the group calls a “farewell to guitar music.” The album was self-produced and mastered by Bob Weston of Chicago Mastering, and will be pressed as a double LP on natural white vinyl, so go ahead and get some Lizard Skin!

Positives:

Grinding guitars, heavy rhythms. SLUSH delivers a 7-song album that ranges from psychedelic pop to grinding drone.

Bottom Line:

Blending elements of doom metal, with a punk loaded Ramones cache these rockers shed their skins to expose a darker sound that scratches the itch on their second LP, Lizard Skin. The heavy hitter "Graveyard," pitches the gruff with slant, while “Golden Seam,” squalls with reverence. The title track “Lizard Skin,” invokes an acoustic revel that shows the groups versatility. A swampy “Skeleton Queen,” takes the listener through another reincarnation of the groups sound. From exploding guitars and hard-hitting drums the seven song LP has got a nice mix of creativity and enough grit to make it memorable. That’s the short of it!
