Little Brother Eli is a four-member band from Oxford. Their sound is a combination of rock, disco and electronica sounds set to infectious grooves of mix rock, pop and hip-hop rhythms. The band, consisting of: Alex Grew, Joshua Rigal, Adam Stowe and Benji Page, have toured extensively since their conception in 2013. Little Brother Eli’s music is successful in combining electronic sounds in the context of a live rock band because of their chemistry as a live band and their commitment to danceable beats and catchy hooks. Little Brother Eli has been releasing singles all throughout 2018, and now their final single of the year “Oops,” is being released. With strong energetic vocals and a dance beat that pops with energy from a kickin’ band, “Oops” is an excellent track filled with melodic fun. That’s the short of it!
Positives:
Great songwriting with solid singing and playing.
Bottom Line:
Little Brother Eli is creating a sound that pulls from the danceable beats of pop and hip-hop, adding in funky guitar parts, rock solid bass and drums and a strong front man singing catchy melodies. That combination through a song form that has variety in both vocal and the instrumental parts is a successful recipe. “Oops” offers inventive feel changes that elevate the chorus to sound energic and driving. The bridge has hip electronica sounds swirling all around the melody. The bass features an outstanding driving feel to the track and that fact that this is a live working band comes through with the subtle details in each part. Little Brother Eli serves up a sound that is "happy funk" from across the pond and it outrageously hip!
