Chris Colepaugh is staying on track with his project “12 on 12,” which is to release a single to streaming/radio each month for a year starting in January 2019. Colepaugh’s southern rock-inspired sound is always full of thick guitars and solid vocals. That sound has earned the Canadian multiple awards, both as the front man for the group Chris Colepaugh and the Cosmic Crew. In addition to his band and solo work, Colepaugh has lent his multi-instrument talents to platinum artists Roch Voisine, Big Sugar, fiddle champion Samantha Robichaud and NB blues icon Matt Andersen and has toured Europe, Russia and Africa with them. Colpaugh’s previous singles “Mamma’s Eyes” (read review HERE), “Louder” (read review HERE), and “Sunday Night” (read review HERE). He is now releasing his next track, “Only One Left.”
Positives:
Great sounds, strong melody and a song form that has bite and interesting segments.
Bottom Line:
“Only One Left” has the perfect marriage of Southern Rock with a little Texas attitude thrown in for good measure. Colepaugh’s singing is strong and in the pocket. The guitar work is full and there is a nice balance of lead work and catchy riffing. Colepaugh has the ability to keep things interesting without getting overly complex and losing sight of the real focus, which is the melody. “Only One Left” is song number six in Colepaugh's song-a-month for 2019. This is a rock and roll party you will not want to miss and that’s the short of it!
