Coming to us from the beautiful seaport city of Glasgow is a pop-rock band called, Altered Sky. The 5-piece bandmates are: Ana Nowosielska – Vocals, Amy Blair – Drums/Vocals, Tara Behan – Guitar and Ross Archibald – Bass. Formed in 2010, this hard-working band have travelled along the traditional route of playing small venues up and down the country. That role up your sleeves and work attitude has paid off with a solid following. Altered Sky has released two EPs and a full-length debut album. Altered Sky has shared the stage with the likes of Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Neck Deep, The Wonder Years, State Champs and The La Fontaines. In 2017, the band toured the Philippines and Japan, which saw the band’s profile and fanbase explode overseas. Altered Sky is now releasing their first single for 2019 titled, “Surrounded.”

Positives:

With “Surronded” Altered Sky is incorporating a heavier, darker sound than the band’s previous releases. The new sound is excellent and Nowosielska’s vocals delivers with an edge.

Bottom Line:

Altered Sky has a solid rock tone with elements of pop melodies that makes their music melodic and appealing to a wide audience. “Surrounded” has a rich guitar driven sound with big drums and thumping bass. The form has a variety of feels and allows Nowosielska to display a wide range of vocal registers and colors. The quintet does a solid job delving in their songwriting. The bridge has a nice feel change and build. The darker sound that Altered Sky is presenting is much more suited for the band and they deliver an energetic presentation with “Surrounded.” This is a rock band to watch and listen to for more great music. That’s the short of it!
