Wallners, Dracula Review

wallners-staccatofy-cdWallners is a band from Vienna, Austria, composed of four siblings, Nino, Max, and the twins Anna and Laurenz. Their music dances the line of indie-pop and dream pop with a gentle, seductive, and hypnotic aura. The deconstructed songs are brought to life vocally by Anna, with her tender hypnotic sound that is alluring as much as it is intoxicating. The quartet released their debut EP called Prolog 1 on Universal Music Austria earlier this year. The story of Nino (20), Max (23), and the twins Anna and Laurenz (25) is a dream come true. After years of playing in their living room, they sent demos to various labels without great expectations. However, never did they imagine that they would land a deal with Universal Music. The quartet’s debut single compares to a gaze into a magical kaleidoscope, presenting itself as an unmistakable and highly polished sound. Wallners’ hypnotic dream-pop will take listeners on an exciting journey somewhere between illusion and reality, and that is why they got signed. Now, the Wallners are releasing their next single titled “Dracula.”
[section label=”Bottom Line”]Bottom Line:  “Dracula” showcases Anna’s vocals set to a mysterious dream-pop vibe. The siblings are a band with an international stature that continues to write, record, and produce their music at home. With “Dracula,” the Wallners’ developed their unmistakable, mystical sound into something catchy and smooth. The percussive bassline matches the thump of the bass drum as Anna’s beautiful voice floats above with expression and allure. Her glissandos are sexy and emotive. Each pass through a section of the form brings new textures and discoveries. A lovely guitar solo puts the cherry on top. Overall, Wallners builds a pleasant ecosystem around Anna’s inviting, haunting tone that uses deconstruction just as effectively as construction. This makes for profound listening rewards in this Bedroom/Lo-Fi pop/rock winner. That’s the short of it!
