Rhye, Blood Review 2

Rhye is back with a second album titled, Blood. The big difference is the departure of Robin Hannibal, making Mike Milosh the sole member. However, the result is still a combination of R&B and pop and delivered in a sexy soulful vocal style. The songwriting is first-rate, full of subtle parts and layers that pull from many styles, but always support Milosh’s extraordinary voice. The ten tracks are organic in nature, Milosh wrote much of the material while on tour, and recording the album with his live band added a presence that creates a consistent vibe throughout the entire album. An intimate journey into a modern R&B sound, with intimacy, crafty songwriting and strong singing. That’s the short of it!

Positives:

Hip grooves that are sensual, all the while calming melodies float over rhythms, with emotional vocals that offer depth.

Bottom Line:

Rhye’s Blood exudes soul sensibilities, Milosh’s voice is the key element of this captivating and deeply seductive set of songs. Rhye's music (even without partner Robin Hannibal) is luscious with a modern twist on the R&B, neo-soul sound that offers elements of electronica. If it feels good and sounds good, than it must BE good, don’t fight it just sit back and enjoy it!
