Proper Man, Kleptomaniac Review

Proper Man is a band comprised of Jason Parkes (vocals), Petri Nieminen (guitar), Nori Wentworth (bass / vocals), Massimo Campoli (drums) and Travis Saunders (piano/keyboard/vocals). Together Proper Man has a sound that’s a lot like high school in the 1980’s and all the glimmer of that generation. Their sound is new wave meets punk projected through catchy beats and solid melodies. Parkes and Nieminen where writing music together and searching for something new when, after a few too many scotch whiskies, Parkes’ words started slurring together and developed an English accent. That sound had Petri dancing terribly with excitement, but it stuck, and the band built upon it and now are releasing their latest single titled, “Kleptomaniac.”
Positives:
Proper Man has a band sound and their songs capture the 1980’s plus a little of today's pop styles.
Bottom Line:
Proper Man is spinning a punk and new wave vibe with a solid 80’s drum sound and beat and pulsating synth figure. The clean effected guitar surrounds Parkes’ vocals as he takes us through the form. The music is catchy and timeless. The kind of tune that the 80’s where know for and that sticks in your head and you hum it all day! The vocal harmonies are solid, the synth figures are varied and full. The song has several feels and a strong sense of nostalgia in the sounds and lyrics. This is a band that has developed a sound and a look that is all their own. That’s the short of it!
