LUTHI is a band that brings in the best elements from: soul and R&B acts from the 1960’s, psychedelic funk and groove from the 70’s, and New Wave rock and roll from the 80’s, LUTHI then turns the ingredients into their own sound of modern dance music. The nine-member band develops grooves with lyrics and melodies that only continue to open themselves up to listeners with each new spin. LUTHI is known for routinely bringing the party, and it’s a big one. Boogie Circus is the most colorful description of their sound, but “We like the term Cumberland Funk too,” says front man Christian Luthi, with an easy chuckle. LUTHI, a Nashville based psychedelic dance funk collective, have released their debut album called, Stranger. The 9-piece The LUTHI Crew is a band that has a shared passion for helping others let loose, and they have brought their live energy into the studio and captured it on eleven tracks for our listening pleasure. That’s the short of it!
Positives:
Infectious grooves that will make you feel good and wanna move suminsumin.
Bottom Line:
LUTHI has a sound that is part soul and R&B, part funk and just the right amount of rock-n-roll. The band knows how to bring party music to life and Luthi’s vocals are soulful and tasty. The vocal harmonies and instrumental parts are excellent, but the focus is always on the feel, and it does feel good. With a vast range of feels and tempos, LUTHI will keep the feel-good party going for all eleven tracks of Stranger.
