After returning home, Woodlee worked for three months to earn the money for her first guitar, a Yamaha with Nylon Strings. Ever since music has been a big part of Woodlee’s life. Now Woodlee sings and plays: guitar, piano, bass, ukulele, and violin. Woodlee explains, “What truly drives me is my love for music. I have always been drawn to music, fascinated by its complexity and its ability to express the emotions of the heart in a unique way.” Woodlee’s single, “High School,” is a ballad that scored over 300k combined Radio/Retail Radio/Spotify plays in under 2 months. She is now releasing her second single, “Good Reason.” Set to a steady pop beat with a catchy hook and solid song form. Positives:
Woodlee has constructed a solid tune with “Good Reason.” The form has varying sections and feels and interesting instrumentation, and of course, a solid singing style that conveys power and emotion.
Bottom Line:
Woodlee has an attractive vocal quality that is easy to follow and sits within the beat in a manner that is expressive and also defines the groove. “Good Reason” has a pop beat with a little rock thrown in for extra attitude. There are also some EDM sounds that will make electro pop lovers feel at home. Her lyrics are solid. The song uses vocal harmonies and feel changes to create an imaginative presentation. Woodlee displays a lot of vocal chops for her age, she is still in high school, but her maturity musically is evident. The song form also shows her maturity of understanding and how to build a track and create interest. Though young in age, that is not a reflection of her creativity, Woodlee draws upon a deeper experience beyond her age on this earth. Her voice is youthful but offers a prowess that will only deepen with time. Woodlee is one to watch and that's the short of it!
