Shaina Silver-Baird is a vocalist, songwriter and leader of a group of collaborators called, Ghost Caravan. Silver-Baird explains, “My music is still about dark places, but I focus on finding the light, the moment when you realize your own strength and ability to move forward. I want to be proud to share my songs with young women. There are so many voices in the world telling women how to think and feel about themselves. I want to be the voice that celebrates women. I want to empower and uplift people.” Ghost Caravan is releasing their debut full length album, T.O. Bottom Line:
Ghost Caravan’s T.O. Confidential contains a soulful overtone through all eight tracks, that offer elements of pop, R&B, and dance/electronica. Silver-Baird’s able to tap the core of each track with her emotional singing and surrounding instrumentation. Tracks like, “Now That I’m Free” invoke percussive vocal backgrounds and counterpoints, a lush string orchestration and an enjoyable pop R&B beat. “We Can Dance” has a light EDM beat and bass sound. The track evolves nicely over time, there is a nice world music influence on the chorus. “Damn You” has a solid soultronica musical style that combines, EDM, soul from the 70’s and a modern twist of the two. The bass line is excellent and Silver-Baird’s vocals are solid. That’s the short of it!
