Drea Rose, Intuition Review
Drea Rose is California based singer and songwriter that offers a soulful sound to the pop genre. Rose is a classically trained guitarist and has influences from the sounds of Motown, jazz, classical and pop. Her music is a sonic declaration of California’s laid back and eclectic culture and she celebrates lesbianism thru femininity. She was an active musician in the Monterey Jazz Festival and Monterey Blues Festival as a vocalist and guitarist throughout high school. Rose will be on this coming season of American Idol. Taking her craft to Los Angeles, Rose is releasing her debut single, “Intuition.” A catchy R&B/pop track that has reminiscence of Prince’s early work, deep sensuality and high falsetto lead vocals. That’s the short of it!
Positives:
Interesting lyrics and hip video with soulful singing by Rose. Her sound is uniquely not like anything on the market at this time, and the video is a well-plotted watch.
Bottom Line:
Rose lets loose an infectious melody to highlight lesbianism, while still bringing out femininity through subtle pop flavors. The medium tempo track has a relaxed R&B bass line with full keyboard chords floating around it. Rose’s voice is full as she sings in a soprano voice that is present and coveys’ emotion. A well-crafted tune, by an equally engaging vocalist, adds up to a winning spin.
