Camila Cabello, Camila Review 2

Singer and songwriter Camila Cabello is taking the pop world by storm. Cabello, 20, who split from made-for-TV girl group Fifth Harmony in 2016, has made her own mark with her sexy smash single, “Havana” featuring Young Thug, climbing to a No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, for now, No. 1 will certainly happen soon. Her debut album simply titled, Camila dropped on January 12, 2018 and Cabello is on fire! The ten tracks feature a balanced set of styles and tempos and Cabello’s sultry vocal delivery is outstanding. The Pharrell-produced “Havana” is unlike anything else in the pop Top 40 world right now. Cabello is bringing a new sexy Latin perspective to the pop world, her vibrant songwriting is going shake things up, and that’s the short of it!

Positives:

From slinky, dance-floor-ready beats to introspective ballads, Camila has a unique sound and perspective that is vivacious. Cabello’s songwriting is a blend of sounds and styles, but always a reliable stable of melodic, catchy hooks. Songwriters and producers on Camila included: OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder and Frank Dukes (whose credits run the gamut from Lorde's Green Light to Post Malone's Congratulations).

Negatives:

Lose the Auto Tune, it is not needed, Cabello has the pipes to deliver in tune, and it’s a distraction!

Bottom Line:

Fun flirty music that brings Latin tinged rhythms to the punchy synth world of pop. Camila’s vocal quality is excellent and a welcomed addition the pop scene. Cabello certainly demonstrates that she is ready to stand alone without Fifth Harmony, the future is bright for this smoky hued vocal powerhouse!
