Calum Scott has gained a lot of attention after his strong performance during the 2015 season of Britain’s Got Talent. Since that time, Scott has released a few singles over the last two years, but now after a long awaited time, Scott is releasing his debut album, Only Human. Scott’s voice sounds as great as ever and the material ranges from slow love ballads to upbeat and energetic selections. Scott has focused on material that is catchy and showcases his vocal talent. Only Human has fourteen tracks, two of which are covers. One of which is “Dancing on My Own,” the song that earned Scott the Golden Buzzer at Britain’s Got Talent. The second is an acoustic version of Bob Dylan’s “Not Dark Yet,” that Scott re-arranges to fit his unique style. As a whole, this is a strong debut, Scott’s voice is brilliant and this should build his fan base and continue to allow him to develop as an artist. That’s the short of it!
Positives:
Great vocals! Nice catchy tunes with a nice mix of styles.
Bottom Line:
Scott’s Only Human will emotionally resonant with pop music lover on numerous songs. The music is full and supportive of Scott and is produced by Fraser T Smith (Adele, Ellie Goulding). Scott also worked with producers Jayson DeZuzio, Oak Felder, Oscar Gorres and Phil Paul. The album has positive energy and lyrics. Scott may only be human, but he is one with a strong set of vocal pipes!
