Brodie Jenkins began her music career at an early age, at fifteen she was already signed and touring with her mom and sister in an Americana band.  Jenkins always loved rock n roll and in college that love became a reality when she joined a 5-piece rock band with classmate Grahame Lesh.  Bandmate, Johnny Hwin and Jenkins never actually met while attending college, though roaming the same halls.  One summer after graduation, when a mutual friend invited them to San Francisco artist collective, The SUB, the two began a fruitful collaboration. Over time, they opened up to collaborations outside of their studio in the Mission, and Jenkins found herself weaving together songs with a new group of talented musicians and producers.  “Down Like That” featuring Josh Jacobson, is the first of those collaborations and marks a polished pop departure.

Positives:

Jenkins has a full-bodied voice; her folkish background gives her voice a buoyancy that accentuates her vocal quality.

Bottom Line:

“Down Like That” is a playful song, an end of summer celebration that lifts your spirit and makes you want to breath in the essence. Jenkins might be exploring new musical territory, but it’s a solid fit. Her voice and style are perfectly paired with the production. Jenkins voice easily transitions from darkly hued sensuality, to angelic highs filled with warmth and sweetly toned vocal accents. A late summer sizzler, to extend the summer fun. That’s the short of it!
