Positives:

PLS&TY creates a slick production that has a world music overtone with phat synths and layering.

Bottom Line:

The opening vocal part is based on a Finnish song called, “Käppee,” composed by Mari Kaasinen, performed by Värttinä, from the album Ilmatar (<a href="https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00DL9YTP4"><img src="https://staccatofy.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/amazon-staccatofy.png" alt="amazon" width="40" height="40"></a>). PLS&TY takes the theme from the chorus and builds a track that has wonderful tension and release, big sounds and a balanced sound of samples and electronic instruments. “Run Wild” has a lot of variety in its intensity of rhythms and density of orchestration. That is what makes PLS&TY’s music so interesting, his balance of activity and letting the music breathe. PLS&TY’s song form has wonderful transitions and building layers. Using a Finnish folk song and interpreting it to create a modern EDM track is a wonderful idea. Classical composers have been doing this before electricity. The Finnish lyrics and wonderful vocals by Värttinä give the track an exotic flair, but all the natural sounds that mix with the vocals and the build and layering of parts is all PLS&TY. Well done and that’s the short of it!
