Bjorn Rydhog, Let’s Not Get Old Review
Bjorn Rydhog came into our music world three years ago with a pocketful of “Sunshine” and the feel-good indie-folk sound the filled his debut EP, There’s a Light in Everything. Hailing from Malmö, Sweden, Rydhog is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter that crafts uplifting, wondrous tunes ready to soundtrack our life’s events. His music strikes a balance with its fun, smile-inducing pulse that also connects on a deeper level. With producer Johan Sigerud (JRSS) and co-writer Olof Gråhamn, Rydhog focuses on melodic indie-pop with electronic and beat-based propulsion. Dua Lipa and The Radio Dept. fans will hear familiar melancholic progressions blended with a modern retro sound. These sounds can be heard in the singles “Just to Be with You” and “I Don’t Wanna Be Alone,” both songs were picked up by the Swedish radio. In addition, Rydhog is releasing his single, “Let’s Not Get Old.”
[section label=”Bottom Line”]Bottom Line: “Let’s Not Get Old” has a celebratory and hopeful vibe, and the pulse supports the expression of the lyrics about the beauty and love that’s all around. Music that’s perfect for listening alone or during the post-pandemic party nights. The synths kick the sounds off, building to Rydhog’s vocals. His vocal style is rhythmic and warm timbered. The song form builds around the theme with fresh sounds throughout each section. Though the song never kicks into high energy, the slow burn is a pleasant push of excitement and flow. Rydhog is bringing the world music to enjoy and feel good with. His style is not overly complicated, and his songwriting is direct and to the point. That’s the short of it!
