Canadian country vocalist and songwriter Lisa Nicole has been building to release her first full-length album, Where Wild Hearts Beat, on August 13, 2021. Nicole’s first EP, It Got Ugly, earned her much recognition and a showcase at the 2013 Canadian Country Music Awards. Industry recognition followed with 2014 BC Country Music Association Award nominations for the Ray McAuley Horizon Award and Music Video of the Year. Her 2016 EP, Come Find Me, produced by Tom McKillip and Carly McKillip, led to a coast-to-coast Canadian tour, three single radio releases, two more BCCMA nominations, and a once-in-a-lifetime impromptu on-stage performance with Keith Urban. While performing at the 2018 Canadian Country Music Week in Hamilton, she connected with CCMA award-winning producer Jeff Johnson (Meghan Patrick, Chris Buck Band). Johnson is producing her full-length album, and Nicole is now thrilled to share the release of her new single , “Gypsy Girl,” leading up to its August 13th release.
[section label=”Bottom Line”]Bottom Line:  “Gypsy Girl” was written in Nashville by Nicole, Phil Barton, and Brian White. The country-flavored pop sound was produced by Johnson and highlights Nicole’s blend of pop and classic country singing style. The instrumentation has a subtle use of banjo, dobro, and steel guitar set to a carefree pop/country vibe. Nicole says, “For me, this song embodies a free-spirited soul who lives for spontaneous adventure and the life experiences that come with that. It could be a road trip with your bestie or a solo move to a new country. If it starts in your spirit, it’s worth pursuing, and you’ll be rewarded.” Nicole has a sensual style of sliding into and out of notes that is very emotional and effective. The songwriting is solid, with no surprises or extended form structures, just a straight-ahead pop/country song that focuses on Nicole’s singing. Nicole speaks about the upcoming album, “This album represents my legacy project with all of my heart and soul put into it. Even so – more than anything else, I hope it inspires everyone to follow their own hearts and creative souls. If I’ve learned anything over the past 18 months, it’s that the very unpredictable journey of life is more important than any destination. Life changes in an instant, and it’s impossible to predict the future. Make the most of every moment – musically and otherwise.” We are excited to hear the entire album; until then, “Gypsy Girl” will undoubtedly build momentum for this rising country star. That’s the short of it!
