Lazy Jane, Queen of Everything Review
Lazy Jane is a country music duo based in Nashville, Tennessee, presenting a unique, edgy take on the genre with its soaring male/female melodies, strong guitar playing, and impressive songwriting skills. Formed in 2016 by husband-and-wife Madison and Tristen Smith after fans of their pre-duo solo careers demanded to see the two perform together. Madison and Tristen arranged a few shows and had great feedback and the most fun they ever had performing. In the spring of 2019, Lazy Jane signed a record deal with Stepside Records, a new label based out of Nashville, TN, founded by the highly accomplished pair of Derek George and Julian King. They quickly got to work writing and recording new music, with the duo’s first release under the label debuting in November of that year. The dynamic duet is now releasing their single “Queen of Everything,” the first single from the forthcoming Sounds Like You EP due out October 29, 2021.
[section label=”Bottom Line”]Bottom Line: “Queen of Everything” was produced by The Swon Brothers and is the first single of a six-song EP that chronicles the country husband and wife duo’s journey of meeting, falling in love, and welcoming a child into their nomadic country lifestyle. The modern country song has lyrics that highlight the feeling of falling in love with a free spirit and is true to the family’s current journey of living and traveling in an RV as they travel the country playing shows. The intro has a catchy figure and modern pop-country beat. Tristen’s guitar is warm and crunchy. The melody is beautifully sung by both Madison and Tristen, giving the melody a buzzing male/female sound. The production, mix, vocals, and band are all balanced and easy to hear. Tristen’s guitar solo is fiery and builds to the final chorus and cadence. Sold song with a catchy melody and strong singing by Lazy Jane. That’s the short of it!
